Jennifer finds herself in dire straits when a moving van filled with all of her possessions is stolen. Then she propositions Vince, an acquaintance with a large gambling debt. The union of onetime teen stars Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence and some flushes of clever dialogue marginally compensate for a strained premise in "My Fake Fiance," the kind of slim romantic comedy better suited to basic cable than many among the hordes of similarly themed theatrical offerings unleashed each year. Slight and predictable, the movie nevertheless should find a sweet spot with ABC Family's young-female audience, already familiar with producer-star Hart thanks to "Holiday in Handcuffs."

Extraordinary beautiful 17 years old high school girl Rio (Nozomi Sasaki) possesses the charisma to attract others, and she is always in the company of Miho (Araki Nanaki) and Maki (Mitsuki Oishi). Conceived by means of in vitro fertilisation, Anna Fitzgerald (Abigail Breslin) was brought into the world to be a genetic match for her older sister, Kate (Sofia Vassilieva), who suffers from acute promyelocytic leukemia. Anna knows if she donates a kidney, she will be unable to live the life she wants; she will no longer be able to take part in extracurricular activities such as cheerleading or soccer or motherhood. When Kate turns 15, she goes into renal failure. Knowing that she will have to donate one of her kidneys to her sister, Anna sues her parents for medical emancipation and the rights to her own body. Attorney Campbell Alexander (Alec Baldwin) agrees to work for Anna as her guardian ad litem, suing for partial termination of parental rights. It is later learned he agreed to take the case not for the notoriety, but because he is an epileptic and understands not having control over one's own body.
